Our program will be presented by Debbie Stack, Director of Education & Community Engagement at WCNY. Debbie will talk about the Career & Technical Education program offered at WCNY through Onondaga-Cortland-Madison BOCES. It is a two-year Media Marketing Communications program offering a rigorous high school and college level of study that pairs hands-on learning in a real-world business setting. WCNY’s Broadcast & Education Center serves as a 21st century classroom for the students under the instructional guidance of OCM BOCES, Onondaga Community College and WCNY professionals. Students learn technical skills in the areas of television & radio broadcast, cable television, sound & video recording, computer graphics & web design, effective use of social media, corporate video production, marketing & advertising and documentary & educational programming.
We will have a short business meeting after the presentation. Following the business meeting, Terry Long will give us a tour of the WCNY facilities. Many PBS stations across the country are programmed out of WCNY, the farthest being in Hawaii. Terry will show us how they do it.
